A Final Update...?

You might have already guessed this from my extremely long absence but I've been thinking about going on a really long hiatus or quitting blogging altogether. I haven't been blogging for long, I only started a few months ago, so I'm still uncertain about quitting? This was kind of a test to see if I could handle it before I made my blog more official and invested more time/money into it but it seems like I couldn't handle it.

I love reading and putting up little reviews on Goodreads so I thought blogging would just be an extension of that. It wouldn't be a big deal if I already loved the hobby, right? That's what I thought but as time went on, it started feeling more like work than fun. I'm not sure why because I loved interacting with you all. My favorite thing about this whole experience was reading comments and replying and having support and giving support to fellow readers! It felt so comfortable and simple.

But recently, I've started medschool and gotten a new part-time job. Life in general has become hectic. I have to dig out time to read, yet alone collect my thoughts up for reviewing and blogging. I thought fun lists and the sort would encourage me to blog more but I still can't seem to keep up and enjoy myself. I end up feeling more drained and stressed than ever before when I should be feeling relaxed.

So, I just want you all to know that Fictional Skylines will be on hiatus until I can find it easier to handle blogging like during the summer. I would say it's very to close to quitting blogging altogether but I'm indecisive and don't want to say goodbye to you all forever! I'll miss you all, every one of my sweet followers who always left long and interesting comments or just small, sarcastic remarks that made me laugh. I appreciate our short but meaningful friendships so much. It always lit up my mornings to read all your comments and I will miss that.

You can still find me around the internet though: I'll occasionally post mini-reviews on Goodreads because I do love reading and reviewing too much to quit completely. My email (fictionalskylines@gmail.com) is also open if you have anything to tell me.

Until then, it's been a fun and memorable few months in the blogging community. I was welcomed openly and it was easy to interact with everyone. Thank you so much for everything and goodbye for now!

I'M REALLY GOING TO MISS YOU ALL.

September 2015: Slumps, Sickness & Slumber

You can already guess that this month wasn't a whirlwind for me and yet, I'm still shocked that September is over already!? 30 whole days just zipped by even if I was doing anything but zipping. I'm already getting my Halloween groove on just in case October ends in a flash (not that anyone celebrates Halloween in the middle of the desert but still).

Ten Books To Read If You Liked Throne of Glass

"Top Ten Tuesday" is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Ah, I've only had the motivation to do this one meme for 3 weeks in a row, oh dear! 0_0 Is this what you call a blogging slump? Eeek, I really need to be more active. I'm going to publish some already prepared posts that I felt shy about posting before and I think I'll be starting another weekly meme. I know some people hate those but it keeps me motivated to blog so please recommend some weekly memes/features that you enjoy doing in the comments below!

That aside, this week's TTT is really hard. I decided to lean on the genre I'm most comfortable with and that's the gloriously endless fantasy genre. A lot of people think Throne of Glass (I'm speaking of only the first book here because I have yet to start the 4th book to talk about the whole series) is the greatest YA fantasy starter to ever exist but to be honest, there are several just as good (some even better) fantasy starters out there. So today I'm going to recommend some to you!

Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR

"Top Ten Tuesday" is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
I've been gone for over 2 weeks, I know, I'm so sorry for the sporadic blogging! I've been very ill lately and only recently got better. I had to go through a couple of intravenous therapies and stay on a strict diet of juices & fruits only so I didn't have the energy to do much of anything :/

But still I have a whole bunch of Fall reads I want to get to and I know some of these aren't brand new releases or anything but I still really want to read them!

Top Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish

"Top Ten Tuesday" is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Sorry for the late post today, guys! I was so excited and ended up D-E-A-D yesterday because it seemed like the entire kpop industry agreed to drop a teaser or a music video or a stage performance all at once. That sounds lame but you have no idea how it gets when you stan so many bands and fangirl with so much emotion haha.

Anyways, this week's topic is easy because I'm always bad at completing series :| It's an ancient curse that I have been burdened with since before I was born. Only a few Chosen Ones have been seen through until the very end like the Percy Jackson series and Harry Potter. But here are the series that continue to face the trials and tribulations of being started by a multifandom reader ~

This heart-wrenching novel explores what it is like to be thrust into an unwanted marriage. Has Naila’s fate been written in the stars? Or can she still make her own destiny?

Naila’s conservative immigrant parents have always said the same thing: She may choose what to study, how to wear her hair, and what to be when she grows up—but they will choose her husband. Following their cultural tradition, they will plan an arranged marriage for her. And until then, dating—even friendship with a boy—is forbidden. When Naila breaks their rule by falling in love with Saif, her parents are livid. Convinced she has forgotten who she truly is, they travel to Pakistan to visit relatives and explore their roots. But Naila’s vacation turns into a nightmare when she learns that plans have changed—her parents have found her a husband and they want her to marry him, now! Despite her greatest efforts, Naila is aghast to find herself cut off from everything and everyone she once knew. Her only hope of escape is Saif . . . if he can find her before it’s too late.

5 Fictional Characters That Will Be Missed

"Ju Jabbers" is an original feature in which I have random discussions about books, life, movies, and a myriad of other things. It's an open door to what I hope will be a fun and somewhat thought-provoking little corner of the internet.

This is going to be a really sad, really SPOILER-filled post (Spoilers from these series: Harry Potter, The Maze Runner, The Hunger Games and Throne of Glass)  but it's also very important to me. I'm going to be listing 5 fictional characters who died and who I still miss. And yes, I do miss dead fictional characters. I'm lame and sentimental like that. Of course that doesn't mean I treat their deaths with the same weight as real deaths but gosh, we're humans and we're allowed to feel emotional about anything we want to feel emotional about, right?

I'm Finally Back?!

Dun, dun...dun? I'm finally back after 1 month and a half. Yeah, my vacation extended for way too long and I feel so weird looking at the huge screen of my laptop after ages without it! I think I completely forgot how to use blogger, everything is so uncertain and I'm just staring at the keyboard like "what do...I....do?" 0_0
